MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

.
Even though we live in Israel we did manage to get some Christmas atmosphere, not like in Sweden of course, but still. We baked gingerbread and made glögg (hot spiced wine). Santa came for a visit with a few gifts for us and we had a nice dinner. The same day we celebrated Hanukah with our aunt and her family. Candles, candles and lots of food all over again. Sometimes it is good to be a multicultural family!

THINKING

.
Noam: Mom?
Sonja: Mmmm..
Noam: Why did you choose to have so many different jobs?
Sonja: Mmm I guess because I like doing those things.
Noam: You actually have three jobs, and most people only have one job. You teach pilates, do pottery and teach knitting. Why mom?
Sonja: Because I like it that way.

After a while..

Noam: Mom you have too many kids for three jobs.

Just me and the clay

On day a week I spend learning more about working on the pottery wheel. This is heaven for me right now, having a day doing what I like the most and learning so much from a wonderful teacher called Michal. I am soaking up information and putting it into practise. Feeling very spoiled. And not to forget, this wouldn't be possible for me without our wonderful Savta Nava, Milos grandmother.

LIKE MEDITATION

.

Milo and I are working hard in the studio, very hard. I put laces randomly on the flat clay, then I cut out circles and make little bowls, maybe it will be the perfect olivebowl. It is like meditation, to find the perfect combination for each circle. Each bowl is uniqe. Actually I never meditated.. but I imagine the work have the same effect.

IN FRONT OF MY POTTER'S WHEEL

.

I took the magic steps down to my little studio in the basement to see what my hands can do.. if they even remember how to center the clay and if they still know how to shape it to cups and bowls.. Thanks you hands, you have a memory that makes me smile! I haven't been working in front of the potter's wheel for quite some time and it was great to be back. Here are some of the things I made.

I use laces to make the patterns in the clay. Some of them are from my great grandmother, she was also called Sonja by the way, what a coincident!

AUTUMN

.
Not much new is going on in our life really, just trying to manage every day. Every day filled with musts and not much time for beeing spontanoius. Luckily the kids are so great and make me feel it is worth all the effort. We did go to Sweden.. and I didn't take even one photo.. not even one! How is that possible? Milo just like Noam and Alma flying the first time only 2 months old. So brave they are the little creatures. In Israel it is suddelnly possible to spend time outside of the house and no need for AC anymore.. yeah! How I missed that! The neighbours show their faces on the street and we talk about how nice it is that the temperatures dropped and how good it is to have some rain, finally.

HAPPY BUSY DAYS

.
I look at my 3 kids and feel so much joy and fulfillness. I am so proud and cannot believe that I suddenly have this wonderful family. Life suddenly became really busy, it is like running a large project every day, taking care of all of them, making sure there are clean clothes, food on the table, trying to distribute my attention and making sure the house it not a total mess. But I love it and it is so worth every second.

THANK GOD FOR FRUITS

Can you beleive, just a step out in the garden and I can pick passionfruit, a hand full every day. For me, beeing from a nordic cold coutry, this is just amazing. So exotic and oh so tasty.
